Brief Description

Have you been dreaming of trekking to the Valley of Gods? The Har Ki Dun trek is among of the highest sought-after treks in the Garhwali Himalayas. Its location rests on the base of Fateh Parvat.   It is enclosed by dense Pine forests which allows it to offer amphitheater views of mountains such as Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Black peak and This deserted piece of land is a paradise for flora and fauna lovers. Black bear, Langoors and Swargarohini. The native inhabitants in the region are wild boars.  Also found in this region are golden eagles. Through Govind National Park, the accessibility makes it rich in flora. One can easily find trees of Bramhakamal, Bhojpatra and the flower.  The south-east of this cradle shaped attractive valley has Swargarohini and Jaundar Glacier, which gives it it's beauty. The Hat Ki Fun trek is ideal for both experienced and novice trekkers.

 

What is the Best Season To Visit?

 

From the famous city of Dehradun, the Har Ki Dun Trek takes you through a breathtaking drive the base camp of this trekking expedition which is Sankri. This site is a reasonably famous campsite amidst travellers and trekkers which forms the starting point of various explorative accounts — blessed with beautiful weather that is suitable for trekking throughout the year. In the months of winter, except for the monsoons, you can feel the snow that may fall from December to the mid-month of April. The best time to embark on the trip is the Spring season. One can take views of the flower-blooming meadows, the valleys and the scattered snow, which makes an exciting journey. Although nights are colder with drastic dips below freezing point, the average temperature ranges from 1°C to 5°C. Most trekking enthusiasts trek anytime from May to October, which has safer weather conditions and also, better predictable conditions of trekking.

Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri

Day 2: Sankri to Pauni Garaat via Taluka

Day 3: Pauni Garaat to Kalkattiyadhaar

Day 4: Kalkattiyadhar to Har Ki Doon & back to Kalkattiyadhar

Day 5: Kalkattiyadhar to Pauni Garaat via Osla

Day 6: Pauni Garaat to Sankri via Taluka

Day 7: Sankri to Dehradun

 

Full Itenary Guide

Day 1

When you Arrive in Sankri

Arrive in Sankri early morning in Dehradun by 7 AM and then drive towards Sankri. This small weird village is the base for Har Ki Dun trek. In Sankri, you can stay overnight stay at a hotel or guesthouse.

Day 2

Sankri- Taluka (12 Kms by Road ), Taluka- Seema (12 kms trek)

You can take an early morning drive, in a taxi from Sankri to Talukai which is the beginning point ofyour trek. After receiving your breakfast in Taluka, make sure that you carry a packed lunch before you start trekking to Seema (2260m). This place is an even surface through the thick forests of willows, chinars, chestnuts and also filled with a variety of conifer trees. On your way going, you will come across a few waterfalls on your way. You could either decide to trek along the Karmanasha stream or go for the steep climb of Dhaatmeer village. Both the routes will take you to Gangaar village. By late afternoon, you can reach Seema Camps. Stay in tents overnights.

 

Day 3

Seema- Kalkattiyadhaar (7kms trek)

Initially, the trail from Seema is on the left side of the valley and goes past through fields. After this, you can now cross the old bridge over river Rupin. After crossing the river, you start trekking to the right side of the valley. Trek through the trail which now ascends through fields and pastures with huts. On the other side of the valley, you will find beautiful coniferous trees and anther climb to the ridge locally called Kalkattiyadhar. You may arrive at the campsite after a short descent from the Kalkattiyadhar, Overnight stay in tents.

 

Day 4

Kalkattiyadhaar-Har Ki Dun-Kalkattiyadhaar (14 kms trek)

As you move ahead from the Kalkattiyadhaar camp, the trail gives a remarkable view of Har Ki Dun valley. Initially, as you trek through the trail takes you through a gradual climb which later gets steeper as it passes through lovely meadows which opens into Har Ki Dun. You can see the peaks of Har Ki Dun and Swargarohini towering above as a small stream flows by the campsite. You can spend some time at Har Ki Dun then return to Kalkattiyadhaar camp.

 

Day 5

Kalkattiyadhaar - Seema (7 kms trek)

You can spend some good quality time wallowing in the sunrise and enchanting view of Swargarohini Peaks from the campsite. The morning temperature can be quite cold during winters. After having your breakfast, you can head back to Seema before crossing the bridge called the Har Ki Dun bridge. Next, continue with a short walk along the river. At first, there is a gradual climb up to Kalkattiyadhar before it descends to Seema. At Osla village, where you will see the distinctive Gharhwali Houses, you can take a short halt. Like some mountain villages, the location of Osla gets Sunlight throughout the day. This makes it convenient for you to sit and relax for some time. After resting for a short while, you can resume the descent to Seema.

 

Day 6

Seema toTaluka (12 kms trek), Taluka to Sankri (15 km by road)

You can get there by two ways: The first one is through Seema, which takes you through a descent to the river. You can cross it using the bridge. The second route is shorter but steeper. It takes you through Puani to a point where there is a watermill. Then It meets the main trail. Understanding how watermills work, you can spend some time there. From this point, you can enter the forest. You will see the trail along the river. The trek takes you over a cemented trail for the last few minutes.  By afternoon, I can remember that I arrived at Taluka and boarded a vehicle to Sankri, which took about an hour or so. You now check into the guest house. Go ahead and celebrate the tremendous adventurous  Har Ki Dun trek with you trek-mates.

Day 7

Depart from Sankri.to your destination.

Expenses for personal reasons: For instance, during the trek, personal bags must be transported.

Emergency Costs: Any expense arises as a result of any kind of emergency.

 

Water in a Bottle: Throughout the trek, no bottled water will be provided.
